At last by chance I found a 87th Cannondale SM 600 in slate (24"/26" wheelset) in absolutely original condition at Ebay in the UK...
It didn´t take long to find a affordable solution to ship the bicycle to Germany so I had to buy it. It took just 3 days til the bicycle arrived…
So there it was, still dirty from the last race in spring. As Always I started with splitting the bicylce to it´s parts to clean it up, inspect all parts, grease parts...
Not sure exactly what this is as it has no model decals, oddly placed 'cannondale' decals. It's in chameleon green with a mix of deore / xt components, and a pepperoni fork. Serial is 5151290xxxx, which is even stranger because no literature shows a 15" frame. Any ideas?
Bought this SM700 for $40 on Craigslist.

My prescious jewel: RZ 120/2. Been tuning up this gem since I first got it. I love the way it rides. Latest addition are the beefy Schwalbe Fat Franks (26 x 2.35) and they are just fabulous.
Seller's notes (verbatim) when I bought the bike: "'86 came Yellow and Green but late in the production year some came in next year color, the SM600 became the SM800 in 87, hence the Hot Pink."
Anyone found a good paint that comes close? I need to retouch it previous owner did not take good care of the frame
Purchased brand new by me in July 1993 (model year 1994) and still have the owner's manual and sales receipt.
Only original components are the frame, stem, fork, seat post clamp, Force 40 brake cams and blue anodized CODA cantilever brakes, Shimano LX brifters and the front derailleur. The rest of the bike has been upgraded.
