I bought this bike a few years ago, and these photos accompanied the listing. The later photos are of the bike as I currently have it built up. It has a mix of XC Pro and Cyclone, with Superbe levers, and Sansin hubs that closely match the champagne gold of the XC Pro cantilevers. I purchased this bike in 2023. It was in excellent condition. All original, but completely rebuilt, greased, and all new maintenance items. The owner said he bought it from the local Cannondale dealership in 2020. I’m not sure where the bike was from 1990 to 2020, but it looks like it was not ridden at all during that time. The original Deore LX group set, Biopace chainrings, and 27” Sun Mistral Duranomic wheelset all look brand new. The paint and all decals all look brand new also.

I recently finished up my first bike build using a 1988 SM500 that I picked up from an estate sale. Judging by the contents of the handlebar bag on it I don't think it was ridden for quite some time. The color and the big tubes really grabbed me, and I thought it looked like it had potential and would make for a fun project.

eBay purchase from a few years ago that I finally got around to building. Name is “ Number 9”, since it’s the 9th bike I’ve built in my “Skunk Works” basement/garage bike laboratory. In future will be fitted with an Easton EC 90 X fork for weight savings.
