    chain stay protector

I have a 1997 CAAD2 frame here in the stand. It has a plain black chainstay protector, essentially a black version of the helicopter tape. I don't know if it's original to the frame or not, but looking at the yellow bikes in the 1997 catalog it doesn't appear that they came with anything on...

    chain stay protector

Whether you need it or not depends on how rough your roads are and the gear combinations that you spend a lot of time in. Certainly wouldn't hurt to protect the stay though. We always used 3M helicopter tape to protect the front edges of wings on the race cars. It will yellow over time but...

Where to get a Decal kit

PM Brian if he doesn't chime in. Velocals decals are vinyl I think but thin enough to be clear coated. They probably have reasonably close down tube, head tube, fork, and possibly made in USA decals. https://velocals.com/cannondale-build-a-set/?sort=featured&page=1

    Cannondale R500 CAAD 5 [2004]

Looks great. Current Sora is so much nicer than it used to be.

Where to get a Decal kit

Perhaps Brian will chime in. Have you looked around at velocals? They probably won't have a model decal but might have the same style of down tube decals, and might have a color that is close.

Wanted WTB: Cannondale A192 Chainstay Cable Stop

I'd be interested in the shifter bosses if they list them. I don't see them yet. Thanks.

Wanted WTB: Cannondale A192 Chainstay Cable Stop

They didn't give me a very good deal on a quantity of them unfortunately. Where are you located? I could still order a pair and drill and tap them for you if the shipping makes sense.

Wanted WTB: Cannondale A192 Chainstay Cable Stop

I have contacted the ebay seller (that I posted in the other thread) about buying a quantity of the stops. I can drill and tap them.

    A192 CHAINSTAY

Look around for a bike shop that was selling Cannondales in the 1990s. Dealers had frame parts kits that would have had the stops. Another option would be to look for a trashed donor frame - bike co-op, craigslist, swap meet, flea market, etc. This one should work if you drilled and tapped...

    Siemens caad 5

Looks like your bike is a 2005 Euro spec F1000 SL. I tried to post links but they do not work. Go to our catalog page, cllick on 2005 EU catalog, then click mountain bikes, XC Racing, and F1000 SL. There is a small photo showing the Siemens top tube paint. It's just like your bike.

    Siemens caad 5

There was a Siemens Team Replica F4000 SL in 2004 but the 2004-2006 F4000 SL came with a lefty fork while the F2000 SL had a Headshok. Does your bike have the bar code sticker on the bottom bracket shell? That would at least pin down the year of manufacture. It's not unusual for bikes to...

Year and any other info please

That fork decal appears on 2005 Six13s. Sometimes the decals are a better indicator than the paint. I would check the catalogs from 2004-2006 and look for matches of components. It's not unusual for Cannondales to turn up with paint that doesn't show in the catalogs.

    Siemens caad 5

I am not sure about the range of years of the Siemens bikes, but there is one pictured in the 2006 catalog. It appears that the CAAD designation doesn't appear on the MTBs after 2003 at least in the catalogs.

    different types of boss kits?

Glad to hear you got it operational.

    different types of boss kits?

I don't think adding a washer under the nut would work, at least with a Shimano cable adjuster. I measure the depth of the recess on the back side of the adjuster at .48", almost exactly the same as the height of the nut.

    different types of boss kits?

Down tube diameters varied through the years so it's likely there were different lengths of the threaded rod. I would just cut what's not needed off with a hacksaw, then touch the threads up on a bench grinder. If you keep the grinding wheel spinning toward the cut off end, with the rod at a...

different chain stay housing stops for vintage cannondales?

Try to get an idea about how much clearance you will need for the housing to clear the top of the rivet. You can file the head of the rivet slightly after installation if you just need a bit more clearance. If you need the rivet to be essentially flush with the stop material, you will want...

    different types of boss kits?

I have never seen anything placed between the boss and the frame tube. Anything soft would just make it more likely to rotate under load.

    different types of boss kits?

Bottom of seat stay or chain stay? A single rivet in the center of the stop from the donor bike might be enough. You would have to drill a hole in the stop. Before doing so, be sure that the nose of the rivet tool will fit in there. If properly located it shouldn't be too hard to drill a...
