Bought new in '92 in Cedar City, UT for $800 because it had been scratched when built (electric skateboard came much later). Rode in the evenings with bats in St. George after work--great bike! Rode Slick Rock in Moab, UT with fat slicks on it--very fun! Was my daily commuter until it was stolen in Feb.'11. Replaced it with a built-up M200SE.
My daily commuter '92 M1000 was stolen in Feb.'11, so I found this one locally for $75 (for the frame mostly). Reused the seat and frame--replaced everything else new for my new daily commuter. Is 23lbs. with fenders! Rides like a dream...
A frame that was lying around at a bicycle parts supplier's depot in NOS condition.
It has been equipped with a vintage Shimano 600 set, Gipiemme wheels, a Wound Up fork, Aerozine crankset and various other bits and pieces, without any attempt at being philologically correct but just to assemble a lightweight bicycle that will be pleasant to use and, why not, to look at.
Most euro only, but a few stayed in the states. I bought it new Oct. 1990 at Wash. DC bike show via Metropolis Bicycles. $1200. A ton more than I ever paid for a bike, but I had to have it being American/Italian.... like me.

I picked this bike up a month ago on craigslist. I got it from an older gentleman who had hip surgery soon after buying it and put it in his barn. It was 100% original per the 1991 Cannondale catalog...even down to the original Michelins! The bike was covered and it was literally like brand new. It still had the little rubber nub things on the tires. I put a battery in the Avocet 30 that came with it from the factory and voila! Still works perfectly. Bought on eBay. I'm not sure what model/year it is and can't find a seriel number on the frame. I would appreciate any assistance determing what model/year the bike is. I intend to repaint the badly scratched frame and rebuild it as rigid.
