    Mavic MTB tribute

Since Mavic road brakes were made by Modolo, you might look for there cantis, such as Cross and Rocky models: https://velobase.com/ViewComponent.aspx?ID=AD75D103-0E59-43AC-BBA4-6D5D70F451DA&Enum=117&AbsPos=7 Probably hard to find. If you don't want to use Shimano, SunTour, or...

    R400

Upgrading the crank may need a bottom bracket change to make it work. I'd guess there are several options though.

Some discussion about favorite CAAD road frames from another forum

Yes. The very early Saeco replicas were top of the line, but later you could get Saeco livery on a mid line road bike. I don't remember the history but the team rode with Shimano and Campagnolo in different years.

Some discussion about favorite CAAD road frames from another forum

I think there will be people still interested in them for a long time for the usual reasons people like old bicycles: I wanted that bike when I couldn't afford it; It's what a race team that I liked rode; It's a good value compared to buying something comparable new. No idea how well they will...

    R400

I generally like things to be matchy as well. But Cannondale did often spec a one level higher rear derailleur. You have to go way back to see many complete component groups specified on a Cannondale.

    Looks like an 89 SR

As I recall, the upper end road bikes had an AL fork and the lower end steel Tange forks. This could be an SR400 (Mystic Blue) with a bunch of (everything) component changes. Ask what the rims are. Those Mavic hubs are highly desirable.

    Inherited This Cannondale

500€ sounds a bit on the low side to me but I can't identify any of the components on the bike. I own a CAADX and have never seen welds as unfinished as the ones at the head tube on that frame.

    Fake Cannondale?

Obviously not a Cannondale. Thanks for posting.

Where did you ride your Cannondale today?

I think of sycamore as an eastern tree. Will have to get a pic of one on the farm here. Hope you can get some more miles on the R500 soon.

Some discussion about favorite CAAD road frames from another forum

I have only one frame from the post USA era but I like it a lot. There are a lot of folks that really like their Asian made Cannondales. I think I've posted a picture of my CAAD9 road bike in white with red decals here somewhere but will look again. I don't remember what year Cannondale...

Some discussion about favorite CAAD road frames from another forum

My first new Cannondale road bike was a CAAD4 R4000 which was top of the line at the time. It was the frame that Cipollini won all those tour stages on circa 1999. I still don't have one in Saeco paint.

    CAAD5 frame great paint scheme

That is correct, at least in certain years. But 63 cm was a standard size for a long time and sold as complete bikes. In 1999, 53, 55, 57, and 59 cm road frames were only available as framesets according to the catalog. Except in Europe where they were probably available in multiple finishes...

As far as the RD, chain length issue or B screw adjustment could fix the contact between the jockey wheel and the cassette cogs.

    Looks like an 89 SR

Such an odd mix of components that don't fit any bike I remember. But they are all nice parts, especially the DA crank and the Mavic hubs. Paint does look like an 89 SR2000 and the DA crank is right for it. The Huret derailleur is really odd for this bike.

    CAAD5 frame great paint scheme

Pretty sure of the size now, as he sent a photo of the BB shell. The 63 shown is where the size normally appears, I believe the 66 above it is a continuation of a longer number.

    CAAD5 frame great paint scheme

$975 shipped to me. It's nice but that's about what I'd expect to pay for a nice complete CAAD5 with mid to high end components.

    CAAD5 frame great paint scheme

It looks like a 63 cm to me. People make mistakes measuring all the time. Easiest tube to measure accurately is the head tube. Lengths were not published in the CAAD 5 era but I measured a 60 cm CAAD5 at 19 cm, and a 63 cm CAAD7 at 22 cm. He specifies a head tube length of 22.7 cm. I'd...

Great group of folks at the Paceline forum. Thought others might be interested in their comments. Interesting range of favorites, some of which I have and some that I don't. https://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=252494
