Where did you ride your Cannondale today?

Very inspirational paragraph! @Jon K. In a time long past I was physically active. I was in a decade long section of life of poor physical fitness when I got into cycling two years ago this coming summer. I’ve lost 45 lbs.(20kg’s) and feel so much better. I hope to stay in the saddle riding my...

    Think I need more?

In all seriousness though; I vote touring bike. With bags. Maybe not all, but at least a rear rack with an insulated bag for cold beverages.

    Think I need more?

Oh yes! You have lots of space for more Cannondale's. All you really need is enough room for a bike stand for maintenance. And maybe a small workbench. At most that is about 25 sq. ft. Fill 'er up! As far as road or touring bike? Get both. You won't be satisfied otherwise ;)

Where did you ride your Cannondale today?

My first ride in 5 weeks around the neighborhood. Finally tested the last of my 105 “upgrades” I did over the winter. The shifting on the rear is really amazing. So smooth. Mostly. Had a couple of shifts to larger rear cogs where the first swipe on the brifter was met with a dead shift. A quick...

I viewed the bike. Too small. Bummer. It’s a 58 cm. But it is a 1984. No crack at the drive side crank arm and spider junction. So that’s good. For someone. Rims are fairly true and best of all: NO bent fork.

They come in a package of three and should arrive today. So I'll have some spares....

Me too! ;) A thing is only worth what someone is willing to pay. And/or have room for. The seller is most likely to reject my offer in order to wait for a better one.

Yes, I’d definitely ride first before buying. I’ve learned a lot in the last couple of years. Enough to make a decent appraisal of a bike (I hope). At the top of my list is no bent forks. Not even a little bit. I’m currently dealing with two. I think I could judge fit for myself pretty good as...

Thanks for that! I read on the interwebz this week (don’t recall where) while looking for SR900 info that an 84 would have metal cable guides on the top tube vs plastic. True? I imagine there couldn’t have been a whole bunch of SR900’s made. I haven’t been into Cannondale’s long enough to...

    Broken cable guide

Unfortunately I wasn’t around when you were selling good ones. Other than robbing them off another Cannondale I’m at the mercy of what’s available only on ebay.

I called the seller. It might be big enough. He's 6'1" and says it's too big for him. He was given the bike from a family member a couple of years ago. Because he's the family "bike guy". Except he's into BMX and 40's-50's cruisers. Only accepted the offer of a free bike because it was kitted...

Well, I should’ve perused the catalogs a little better. Because a 1985 (or 1984) SR900 is what this appears to be… Now that price doesn’t seem as ridiculous as I first thought. Not that I have that much at this time. Would be a neat addition. If it were big enough.

His ad does state to call for more info. Thinking about calling. Cuz there has to be a good story. The pictures of the bike are taken in a car wash bay. So he at least cleaned the dust off.

Local CL ad. $750 obo. Looks like a neat build. Needs tlc. And shorter cable housings. I’m recalling some special model that did come with Campagnolo. I could be confused. It happens after looking at thousands of bike ads for the last couple of years. (Edit: found online a 89 SR900 and this...

    Broken cable guide

I found the reason for the binding rear brake. It was in the cable housing. A flat spot that is right where the housing has to make a bend exiting the brake lever. Fortunately I had another new section of 11/87 dated Dia Compe housing. Installed, re-wrapped bars and ops check normal. Now I...

    Broken cable guide

While troubleshooting a binding rear brake on my BL I put too much stress on a cable guide and it broke. They must get brittle with age as I don’t think I had a lot of force on the plastic guide. Any suggestions for a fix would be greatly appreciated.

I do remember the Crest Cannondale. The gears in my head spun for a bit trying to figure out how to get it out West.
