Pretty sure it's been repainted. 26" wheels front and rear? Have a look for the serial number on the underside of chainstay or seatstay. 6 speed XT? Model number on the crank? Dia-Compe U brakes front and rear? That's unusual, front cantilever and rear U brake was the usual setup.

Where did you find that catalog page? It doesn't appear in my 1995 USA catalog. I'm fairly certain that it will be a 1" headset. Cannondale generally used Tange Seiki ME-II headsets on the hybrid models in that era.

You may be able to find the two letter production date code under the cable guide. I can't see it in the photo. The bikes in the 1997 catalog don't appear to have the "handmade in USA" decal just behind the stem on the top tube. If the decals are original, that would suggest that it's a 1998...

If it came with the 6500 group it would most likely be a 1998 or 1999 R1000. The crank is a later substitution. Ultegra was still 8 speed in 1997. I don't recognize the paint scheme. Are the decals on top of the paint or clear coated?

There may be a two letter code bottom right under the cable guide. All my frames are either older or newer than 2000-2001, so I can't say for sure where the code is.
