This is my pink and purple Cannondale touring bike! It came from a pretty groady basement and the seat and handlebar tape and brake hoods were all pretty disgusting, but it rides like a dream. I decided to see how many different pink components I could buy for it, which turned out pretty weird. The original color scheme had more of a orange hue to go with the frame color. Haven\\\\\\'t touched the drivetrain of the bike, probably not going to because it flies. The rear tire is a replacement...
L.L. Bean touring bike, spec'd like an 87 ST400 with a cheaper drivetrain. They went with the Suntour Alpha 3000 front derailleur but an AG rear unit and Superbe friction shifters. Obviously a low end crankset. The bike was missing a wheel, so I installed the black 700c set I had on hand. There is no logo on the head tube.

I bought this baby back in 2006 on eBay for £200. It was tired and needed some attention. I am planning to bring the bike up to a modern spec as the fork spacing will accept modern hubs. I do about 100 miles a week and it still eats up the road! Thanks for looking.

This is my daily rider in a city of amazing bikes. I have changed the gearing for city/straight boogeying, cut the weight where I could, and keep her tuned tightly. I enjoy the longer than average wheelbase--- the faster I go the smoother she is. I liken her to an RX-7...she is not the very best at any ONE thing, but she does it all exceptionally. A true all around classic that still turns heads and has a high carbon-fiber diet!! Cheers! Chris

It's my first cannondale.... Not only for going to work ... just every day fun!!! For the more fast drive I use my CAAD 9
About a month ago, I got in an accident with this bike. I was going around 20 mph when a car pulled out, and my fork was folded in. Thanks to rock solid american engineering, that was the only thing that was damaged or bent on the whole frame. With the addition of some serious wheel truing, I just recently got her back from the shop with a new steel fork... And of course, she still rides buttery smooth. Thank you Cannondale, for making such a reliable and brilliantly built bicycle.

I bought the bike for around 500.00 in 1993 from a shop in Indianapolis called Bicycle Gargage Indy. The bike has been a joy to ride, made a upgrade on the shifters and new wheels. Hard to buy a new bike when this one still works great.
European Vintage Ultra 8 with Shimano Alfine. Great city and touring bike.

When I purchased the bike circa '90 or '91, it was billed as a 'T700', which would have been an 1988, but the serial number indicates frame construction in 1989. In 1990, cantilever brake studs were added, which this frame does not have. The crankset and derailleurs are original, as are the frame, fork, handlebars and seatpost. The mileage is so low, that I never replaced the gears. When I purchased the bike, it came standard with a Biopace triple crankset, however I had the shop swap...

I'm the third owner of this bike. It had been bought for a European vacation (which fell through) by the first owner, then passed on to a friend of his as a training bike. I've upgraded the wheels and added fenders and racks. Super stable - loaded or naked.

...It's a 1986 'st series', From what I can tell all the st's used the same frame and the differences were in component selection when purchased. From the original color I'd say it was probably a st400 but with full dress pannier racks/leather saddle and such it became a st800. This is why I used the dark blue paint as in the 1986 cannondale catalog.
