My first road bike was a coral 1986 sr800. I would like to revisit that ride and add one into my stable of bikes. Looking for a 56 or maybe a 54.5
Thanks!
Are you committed to that model/year/color? As far as riding it goes, I'd think you'd be happy with a 3.0 frame which would likely be easier to find. They weren't painted coral though.
That would be awesome! Thanks! I'm hoping to find one with the original fork... I have search ebay for quite sometime but a coral one never seems to surface.
Reviving this old want to buy ad… still looking. If anyone has an 86 catalog I’d love to get the coral paint code so maybe I can at least repaint an old bike the color I want, might be easier that way.
They provide a tough, attractive finish on almost any interior/exterior surface. Designed with a comfort spray tip with a wider finger pad to reduce fatigue caused by continuous spraying. Convenient any angle spray applies easily leaving a rich, deep color that brings out the beauty in your project.

Brian still has the early decals available in the store.
Consider starting with an easier to find 1987-1989 frame. Just be sure to get one with the steel Tange fork. Many 3.0 frames came with aluminum forks. In 1989 the SR500 would be the frame to get, as it has the better chrome-moly fork. Lower end frames had a cheaper fork.
I was mistaken about the 1989 frames. I was thinking they had the original style dropouts. 1989 was the first year for the cantilever dropouts (I was thinking 1990), so would look noticeably different from your 1986.
I have one! The paint is in rough shape, but the frame and fork are sound. Has the original seatpost, crankset, and rear derailleur. It's a 58CM frame. This would make a great resto project. Let me know if you're interested and I'll send some pics.
