I would like to list this bike for sale, unfortunately I am having trouble figuring out what model it is. I bought the bike at AAFES in Germany. It was purchased in 98 or 99 for around 2100.00. The bike is a euro spec bike so I am not having much luck finding it in any catalogs. It is mostly original, the seat and seat post are not original. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Is there a CAAD3, 4, or 5 decal on the frame? XT or XTR? Gripshift? 8 speed or 9?

Serial number says it was made in July 98 and it's a size medium. Being that you bought it on base overseas, it could be a European specced bike which won't show in the US catalogs. I'm thinking 1999 Team replica though

I still own my Cannondale I bought while stationed in Germany in 1992. I'd say that I will be buried with that bike, but it wouldn't be fair to melt it down to put in the urn with my ashes in 47 more years. I have plans to live until I am 100!
I'm wondering if the bike could have been built up by a dealer from a frameset.

If it had been in a bike shop, then yes it might have. However, it was bought on a military base at the Post/Base Exchange which wouldn't special order a frame.
Spot on the bike was ordered through the exchange. Where they sourced the complete bike, I have no idea. Do you have any idea about a reasonable price to ask if I decide to sell it. Thanks
