What model is this? What's it worth?

Hi All,

Hoping someone can help me find the model/year of this bike I just bought. I'm new to riding, grabbed this for $260AUD.

Rides pretty well (to my knowledge), some of the parts were a bit stiff but id think a little work would go a long way

only got it for casual rides and getting around locally

Looks to be lugged steel, so not a Cannondale. There are some steel experts over at the Paceline forum. You might try posting there in General Discussion.

Are those 27" wheels? The Shimano 600 indexed group is pretty nice stuff and with the 6209 brake levers is the last generation of 600EX, from about 1987. No telling if the parts date from the same year as the frame though. Take the rear wheel out and see if the space between the dropouts is 126 mm, as it should be for a six speed bike. Also look at the dropouts themselves, see if they are engraved "Campagnolo", "Shimano", or other. Pull the seat post and check the size stamped in it. Look at the frame under the crank spindle and see if there are serial number or size stamps. Good pictures of the frame lugs and fork crown may also give clues. Looks like a quality bike, the price sounds fair.

Initial glance at the frame really shows nothing special. It does have a pump peg and chain hanger which are nice. But the mounts on the rear drop outs along with the plain lug work, sloping fork, no chrome and external routing of the top tube cable are usually indicative of a lower end, maybe mid grade frame at best. Like mentioned above any shots of the bottom bracket with any markings would help as well as close ups of the dropouts to determine what they are.
