RT 3000 Tandem

I’ve had some dangerous experiences on road bikes through the years so I moved to mountain bikes until recently. I came across the Cannondale and decided I’d get back on the road. It’s a 1997 RT 3000 in great shape. One thing hasn’t changed. I still hate the wind. lol.

Maybe someone(s) should should ride that bike across Death Valley. Somebody who knows the way.

That RT3000 is a beauty. I used to do a mid week group ride that had a couple on a tandem as one of the regulars. I remember struggling to keep in contact with them in rolling hills as they could establish a big gap on the downhill sections. I see Cannondale tandems for sale occasionally but haven't come across one locally in the right size range.

Smiling! Those days are LONG GONE!!! Interestingly, at least to me... After looking at my old race book/articles/pins/patches, etc, I pulled up the online RAAM Stats from 19991 and found all my information, for both years 90/91. I actually DNF in 1990. It was WAY TO DIFFICULT, I thought! Fascinating and it all happened stemming from our (yours and mine) conversation! It was a fun trip down memory lane, thanks again to YOU! And also my GF and I went for out forth tandem ride last night (weather has been to harsh to ride recently)! We logged twenty FAST miles!

HELLO! I've had two Cannondale road bikes previously, but never a C tandem. Both previous tandems were Santanas. In fact, my first one (Arriva) still hangs in my best friends living room one block away. Loved leading those downhills pacelines in several double century races. The difficulty laid in keeping up during the climbs! This one is SOLID and works exceptionally well, except for the bar end (would prefer brake shifters, but I'll deal with it, since changing shifters would involve having to change out the hydraulic brakes also) rear shifter works in reverse (Go figure). I paid $650 for it after shopping for several others, but this one was ready to roll upon purchase. Glad to hear about some of your experiences too! Trips down memory lane! We were "legends in our own minds" lol

What rear derailleur does it have? I know Shimano made some that were reverse pull but I don't remember what models.

It’s an XTR. the chainring side works normally.

We all know the secret to a fast tandem is finding the right Stoker.
