Help! Is this Fake? (CAAD 3 R something)

Hi, can someone help me ID this bike? I can’t even read the serial :/
The owner says it’s never been resprayed but I can’t find it on catalogs. Some parts like the crank don’t seem to be original. What do you think?

Hello, that is a Cannondale. The date code is on the BB. The decals on the back looks maybe added later. Not original.

Hello. Thank you. I posted a picture of the BB, it looks unreadable to me. Are the first two letters supposed to be separated by a column? Could it be “ I.I.”?

Those dot matrix stampings can be hard to read. I couldn't begin to decipher yours from the photo. Crank does not look like anything that Cannondale supplied, but the frame is surely Cannondale. CAAD3? Picture of fork would also help.

you can find some 'principia'-frames out there with pretty similar weldings, but other forks.

i tend to that your red one isn't fake. but for sure it is not a CAAD3. it's just a CAD3, the older ones.

on an other forum i found an interesting thread about the 'CAAD/CAD'-topic.

just one more indicator your's is a CAD3 and not the older CAD2 is, that the cable routing on the top tube is on the CAD2 on top. the CAD3 has it already sideways on the buttom.
