Had it since 99' never had paint need help on ID PLEASE

Mostly need help because I've misplaced the hanger over the course of 10 moves. I got it out in SF on 1999 and its always been a really fun single speed kinda like a big BMX ride. Anyway would be nice to know the model so I can have an idea of original paint and just what it started life as. Thanks guys

Thanks Brian, I've spent all morning looking in the garage for the hanger probably the 9 or tenth time over three years as I've already spent time trying to cross reference the frame to no luck. I'll look again at the 93' catalogs. Thx again

Do you think despite the date code it could be a 94' M400 if you look at the booklet the hanger looks the same . In this case would it take a #16 hanger ?

I thought that might be a touring frame as it has bottle cage bosses under the down tube. Dropouts are different than those shown on 1993 touring frames but the touring frames did not have the cantilever dropouts of other 1993 frames. Since it appears to have a sloping top tube, I'm thinking it might be a 16" M800, a size that's not listed in the catalog.

I think you are right, a 1994 3.8 series frame. Probably started production way early as it was a new design.

I'm not sure about the hanger. Believe that #16 is made for the cantilever dropouts. I looked at a frame I have here and those dropouts are milled down on both sides. The hanger is milled out in the center and covers both sides of the dropout where the hub and skewer contact it. The dropout measures about 6.75 mm where the hanger fits over it.

There is a 90's M800 on ebay now that's a (Beast of the East) with the same "B10302" on the lower chain stay like the one I have so wondering if this is what I have.....

Waiting for a response from a seller of a fork with a 1" threadless steerer tube so I can install a threadless headset so until then project is on hold.

Would you be able to advise me on the correct brake bosses that this frame takes. I ordered a set off ebay and they clearly wouldn't fit. I see some had been available in the website shop but are out of stock. Thanks

I assume this is the part you mean. The threading is 5/16"-18 and is just under 10 mm long. The diameter of the round portion with the wrench flats is 10 mm and is 6 mm long, with flats for an 8 mm wrench. The barrel is 8 mm in diameter and 16.5 mm long. The internal thread is M6. Overall length is 32.3 mm.

Perhaps Brian can come up with some more of these. If not, given some time I can probably make a couple of serviceable ones on my lathe.

Hello, yes that is the part. I at one point removed the ones I had for this frame to use on another. :/ I’d ordered a set and they weren’t even close to fitting and I didn’t try and force them. Second time I reached out to Cannondale directly and they directed me right back to this sight. So here I am again. Below is an image of what DIDNT work for me. Thanks for the reply also

I haven't found any of the 5/16" threaded ones for sale. I'm wondering if I could run a 5/16" die over the M8 thread and make them work. M8 is only .003" larger in diameter than 5/16" and the thread pitch is pretty close. I will try running a die over an M8 bolt and see how it turns out. If that doesn't work it shouldn't be too hard to turn the Sunlite M10 threads down and rethread them to 5/16".

As far as the rest of the project I was able to find a hanger and a set of old Sugino cranks. So that’s a good thing

One Cannondale shop here and the owner is (trying to be nice) a total knob. The original owner sold the shop to the Sr mech. and now its more geared towards only new stock and he wont deal with vintage product. Strangely the same week I moved to this town (almost 15 years ago) I had this same frame into that shop and had him look completely confused and beside himself because I had it set up the same way I'm trying to do now. Single speed with powerlite bars and a bmx stem like a big 26" bmx cruiser.

Yes it was the #16 came in a factory sealed bag for 14.00 of eBay.
