Just picked this pair of Cannondales up tonight. I'll get the serial numbers tomorrow during daylight hours. "his and hers" set. Early mountain bikes in black. Been sitting for decades.

The 2 bikes are nearly identical but have different serial number schemes.

20020989070
20 inch frame
02/09/1989 (February 9 1989)
#070 that day

518108800313
5 = 135mm rear spacing
18 inch frame
1088 production ( October 1988)
number 0313

How secure is a lock when the number tag is still attached? I can say this model of lock is one of the easiest to pick.

Unusual Dia Compe 290 "Bat Wing" brake levers on both bikes.

1989 SM800 based on the components. There is no model number on them. The bikes look to be moslty stock. One top tube clip missing, a big scratch right there from the brake lever getting dragged across. Both need a good cleaning and some touch up on the paint. The sludge on the bb area is similar to a leaky oil bath system. The paint on the brake levers is poor, blistered off from corrosion. Original tires are rotted.
