Well I have had my SR400 since 1988. It has 105 not the suntour listed in the 87 catalog. I have updated pedals, saddle, bars, stem, and brake levers but the rest is history. Ride as often as I can get out. Check out the pics of my ride and the catalog LoL

Welcome. Your bike looks to be in remarkable condition. I always liked the Slate with pink combination. Some pink cable housing would look great on it.

What part of IN? I've just been looking into doing some gravel riding in Parke county, incorporating a bunch of covered bridges into the ride.

Thanks and yes I have been lucky that upkeep has been successful all these years. I wish I could say I rode her regularly between then and now but life happens. I am in the indianapolis area and am definitely a roadie. I have a hybrid (Giant) for neighborhood cruising but it is hardly used. Gravel bike would be great but I am afraid it would be so awesome modern and better suited to indianapolis roads I would neglect the gray lady

"Gravel bikes" take many forms. I've been on rides where people were riding everything from fat bikes to road bikes with 23 mm tires, and everything in between. A mid-range 1990s MTB works fine for gravel riding and they can be picked up very inexpensively. I like my 80s Cannondale touring bikes for gravel, as well as a couple of early 1980s steel road bikes that happen to fit 35 mm tires. One is a Nishiki, the other a Ross. The Ross is built with vintage 7 speed parts, the Nishiki with 10 speed Campagnolo.
