Thanks for this info I'm hoping it's an early one. Components are really nice Frame has a couple good scuffs. No kickstand was ever mounted, which I'm happy about.I don't know how to tell which year from the serial number. The main difference I see between the two years is the 1984 bike came with a SunTour freewheel and the 1985 with a twisted tooth Shimano. Of course that's one of the most likely components to have been changed but that bike doesn't look to have been ridden very much.

Very nice looking bike,Teomat79. Tire choice is on point. One thing I need to try is a hite rite.

That's encouraging. Doesn't prove it's an '84 but at least it's not dated in 1985. Are the wheels original? The freewheel looks to be a SunTour. Pull the wheel and see if the freewheel is a New Winner.12/83 stamp on rim
A pic of seatpost and back of brake. Both stamped 83. Wheels are original. Cannondale logo made by Sun. And a pic of freewheel. That's encouraging. It's fun breaking down a vintage find. I'm enjoying learning the history of Cannondale and finding a bike from the beginning is pretty cool. I'm planning on tearing it down and refresh the components, put in some new cables, get it ready to ride. Then hang it up with others. Tinkering with old bikes is a great hobby.I never realized there where date stamps on components. I think on a slow day that I'll have to look through the ole' parts chest to see what I really have in there. Thanks!
I think there is no doubt that your bike is an 84'. What are you going to do with it? Your stable is getting big.
