Cover for bottom of steerer tube on headshok

Dear all,

I have a 1990s F600 and just had headshok rebuilt. The bottom of the headshok steerer tube is uncovered and getting water from tyres up in there. Do you know where I can get a bung for the bottom of the steerer tube or any other way of covering the base so stop getting crap up inside the shock? Only shallow so won’t fit typical steerer tube bungs.

Thanks

Tim

That might work if dense enough. Will give it a go with some flooring foam I have in the garage. Thanks!

You might have luck using a rubber chair leg cap or a similar-size rubber plug from a hardware store—they come in various diameters and can be trimmed for a shallow fit. Some people also use trimmed bar-end plugs. For a better seal, add a bit of waterproof grease. Finding an original Headshok bung is tough, but DIY solutions usually work fine and are inexpensive.
