Hello boys and girls, greetings from Poland!
Let me show you one of my two beloved Cannondales - I’ve named it Cannondale F700 TeamVolvo 650b SuperCommuter. I found the frameset on the net for something ~150$ and as an owner of 2004 Volvo XC70 I couldn’t miss that offer. Great overall condition with only one bigger dent on the top tube, nothing to care of really. I bought it with a clear idea in my mind already, to build a fast 650b commuter as I’ve already had most of the parts - I’m a bike mechanic and have a plenty of gear here and there from the workshop. I was experimenting with different gear for some time. First impressions were quite ok but I found the Headshok pretty useless for my needs. It did lack the mounts for fender and basket but the worst was the geo - way too high for me. I’ve been looking for 17/20° stem but finding one was not easy. Then I thought that rigid fork would be much better and thankfully I found Fatty fork from BadBoy for ~50$ which is a great price IMO. I paired it with the new Cannondale reducer headset. At first I’ve been thinking of painting the fork the same as the OG Headshok as you may see on one of the photos (simple Photoshop visualisation) but the black one seems to fit great and makes the frame nicely exposed. Drivetrain is 0$ from the workshop - Sram X9 10s paired with Shimano HT crankset and 40T chainring, sharp and precise. Brakes are Shimano MT200 discs. Fenders - SKS. I’ve also changed the Hutchinson tires I’ve already had to Maxxis Re-Fuse TR 47mm. Seatpost, handlebar and stem are from the workshop too or bought secondhand for a couple of $$. The basket is an obligatory gadget for commuting IMO, ~15$ on the net. The finished bike turned out to be way beyond my expectations. It’s fast, it’s comfortable, it looks great and performs like a new bike really. I truly love it and it became my favourite one straight away. Hope you like it as I do Enjoy the photos and have a nice day!
