CAAD5 Special paint job?

Hi guys,
I’m looking to buy a caad5 bike to spec it with some new parts.
I recently found a frame, which I can’t find in any catalogs nor any other pictures/information about it. I don’t think it’s a custom paint job.
Does anybody know something?
Thank u for your help!

It seems to be a R2000 Si Triple in smoke silver - but without the down tube decals. I wonder if and why they offered it in this special way.

Pictures aren't big enough for me to identify most of the components. In the 2002 model year, the R2000 was 9 speed Ultegra with Campagnolo Proton wheels. In 2001 it was Ultegra 9 with Mavic Ksyrium wheels. With a 20 year old bike, anything could have been swapped out. If it was made in 2001 there should be a two letter date code in the bottom bracket shell. 2002 would have had a bar code sticker on or near the bottom bracket shell. See the serial numbers section on the forum. From what I can see of your frame it does appear to be a CAAD5. It's not unusual for us to see bikes that aren't shown in the catalogs. It's especially common with bikes sold in Europe.

Thanks for your answer. I’m pretty sure it’s a 9 speed ultegra 6500. Rims are goldish Mavic Open.
I think it’s a logo deleted version of a 2001 caad5 in smoke silver, just curious why they did this because it appears really nowhere. Are there any other listings beside the catalogs?

6500 fits the CAAD5 era. The Mavic rims in different colors were typical from 1998-2001. I wish I could be of more help but if the paint is original it would probably require someone who was at the factory to explain why it doesn't match anything in the catalogs. I don't know of any other way to research it other than to comb the internet for CAAD5 bikes and see if you can turn up a similar bike.
