CAAD5 R3000si

Hello,

I've recently acquired a CAAD5 and have seen so many different models of it, but I've never seen the exact model as mine anywhere else. It seems I also don't see as many CAAD5's in general as I do other models. What were the "top models" of the 5, and what does that actually mean? Are all the frames the same and all the different models just refer to the components? Can someone possibly shed some light on this for me? Thanks, Mike.

That looks to be a 2002 R3000 Si, which was the top CAAD5 model and second in the road bike line to the CAAD6 R4000 Si. 2002 was the first year for both CAAD5 and 6, and the only difference in the frames was that the CAAD6 had a BB30 bottom bracket and the CAAD5 was threaded. CAAD5 frames are the same, components and forks may vary with model and year. Not sure how long the CAAD5 lasted without checking the catalogs, but offhand would say several years. Not sure it lasted into the CAAD7 era but it may have. I have the same frame as yours in pink, which I believe was a tribute to Mario Cippollini's four stage wins in the 2001 Giro d'Italia.
