A192 CHAINSTAY

Hi, I found out that my frame is compatible with this piece and finding one would be the best option vs the hack I am using right now. Any chance you were able to source one of these?

Look around for a bike shop that was selling Cannondales in the 1990s. Dealers had frame parts kits that would have had the stops. Another option would be to look for a trashed donor frame - bike co-op, craigslist, swap meet, flea market, etc.

This one should work if you drilled and tapped it for a screw. I believe either a 3 mm or #6 screw would work.

Thanks for the lead. It looks like the original part was common enough that I can wait and holdout for another doner frame.

Bumping this thread again. My A192 doner piece has failed so I am looking for another. If by chance you have fabricated one, I would love to purchase a few from you.

Thanks!

I've forgotten what part we we talking about. Is this it? I could probably attempt to make one. Getting the rivet hole spacing exactly right would probably be the hardest part.

Thanks for the reply again. I think I was able to source one from a doner frame although that is still pending but this is the piece that I am looking for. I believe it is most commonly found on the CAD3 and some of the late 80s crit frames. The A192 cable stop plugs into a hole on the bottom of the chainstay and is then bolted in place with a screw from the top side of the chainstay (the welds on the piece I was using snapped). If you want to tinker around I would be happy to send you the broken piece I have.

I'd forgotten they ever used a stop like that. It's odd that they went from the riveted on sheet metal one that I posted, then to welded on stops, then the A192, then back to welded on. I found the A192 on some but not all of my 2.8 frames, plus CAAD3s and a CAAD4. The CAAD5 I checked is welded and the CAAD7 looks to be bonded on. I can pull an A192 off and see if I can duplicate it. It will take some time to get around to it.
