A couple F bikes from MI

Hello, glad I found this site. So my first Cannondale was actually a road bike back in the late 80’s, an R400 I think, can’t remember, was a primer grey color, before that became a thing. Sadly I got rid of that at some point, but I do have my first Cannondale Mt. bike I bought, a 1996 F3000. Got lucky, I let my Brother-in-law have it when I moved on to a 2000 F5000 SL, and then as I moved through lots of bikes, he didn’t ride it a lot, and I got it back a few months ago, along with a similar era CAD3 I had built up from a frame set for my sister.

I wish I had the set of spinergy wheels I had with it, but my BIL for some reason replaced the rear wheel with a Mavic Crossride. I’d really like to find a CODA 900 rear hub/220 rim to put back on it, I loved the sound of that hub. So is best place to look eBay, or anyone know of a source?

Looking forward to reading around here, I have a few period goodies I’ll have to dig out, just glad to have my bike back!

Nice looking collection of bikes.. I can't help you with a magic source of the parts you are looking for. I can tell you that patience is your ally when trying to source vintage bike and part for them. For instance, I am all in at $800(I paid $310 for the bike) for my recent Ebay bike find and the parts needed to complete it the way I want it. It took me almost 2 years to find a Jekyll with a Lefty, but I found one for a killer deal.

Ebay is probably your best bet for finding the hub and rim. The classifieds at the Paceline forum are a good place to post WTBs, but you will have to have 30 posts before you can start a thread in the classifieds. I'm sure there are other good forums with classifieds.

I don't remember the red logo Coda hub. What was the spoke count? I have some NOS Coda (900?) front hubs with the black logo and 28 (I think) spoke holes.

So I believe 32, they are marked 900, I am not sure, but I think 900 is red and 901 were black. like in pic. It has been a while but back in the day I was told by shop the rear 900 was made by DT and was a “Star” hub, thus the sound. I suppose my other option considered is a Crossmax set, period correct, but doesn’t seem easy to find those either.

The catalog shows 32 spokes front and rear for the F3000. My front hubs could well be 901s. I think that 1996 was the first year for Coda hubs so there may not be a lot of them out there. DT made hubs for other brands. I think early Rolf/Trek hubs were DT but they are low spoke count and made for paired spokes. I could be wrong but have the impression that DT hubs started with Edco. I don't know if Edco branded cassette hubs exist.
