24 inch wheels Cannondale?

Might be a little strange, but yesterday we talked about a classmate of our university days in the nineties. We stumbled on his Cannondale he had back then which had two 24" wheels I was sure. It was already well used in those days.
Red color, quite a large frame with a long head tube and white decals (on the crossbar!), but with strange looking small wheels..

I can't find that bike in any of the old catalogues. Was it ever for sale in that specification or was it maybe only a custom bike?

The 16" 1987 frames came with 24" wheels front and rear.

Still wondering why his bike had no small frame. Definitely larger than 16".
Never saw a bike like this again.

The 16" frames are the only ones I have seen with 24" wheels at both ends. You might message Brian, he has a lot of knowledge on the early MTBs.
