I have just starting this project with an old F600 cannondale my dad never used. I have currently just had all the Rivot decals removed and looking forward to getting it built up!

I prefer the look of the 1FG so I am looking to create some similar and maybe go for a single chain ring at the front.

Would love to see some similar builds.

Yer I think so! similar to the 1FG model.

I think it looks much cleaner and simple.

any recommendations for a reasonably priced set welcome!

I think I would just polish it up, find a set of decals. Give it a clear. and build a 1x9 or 1x10. Keep it simple.

the rivets are a little weird... haha

They are terrible! It’s really hard to find any that have been modified as I think the rivets put people off so there doesn’t seem to be many out there.

the 1FG seems to be the closet thing I can find...

I would experiment with the 9 speed parts you have first. See how you get along riding in just the middle ring.

do you think this would give me enough range on longer rides?

I don’t really want to spend the money getting 1x set up but I am worried it’s not going to give me enough choice on rides.

Really tough for me to say, not knowing you or the terrain you're going to be riding. I don't see any real good reason to get rid of the triple. I have triples on all my MTBs. 9 speed cassettes were available in 11-36 and 12-36. I'd think with the right sized chain ring you might find a workable 1 X 9 setup.

I am just about to convert my sons 2009 F4 to a 1x9. I am planning a 11x36 rear and a 34t or maybe 36t front ring. I run a 1x10 for my 29ers. I have no issues. You can mix and match with what works for you, and your terrain. I would work on the finish 1st. Then start building... Rims.. bars... brakes... It will come to you, there are no wrong choices. :)

some progress!

I have had the frame stripped and polished now it’s going to be lacquered and Rebuilt next week.

I also waiting on some new gum wall tyres which i think will looks great.

Any ideas on what pedals/bars to go for I am struggling to know what to go for?

maybe a flat MTB Pedal or go retro?
