1997 Cannondale Promo Frame-aka Half Cut/Cutaway

Hi all,
Does anyone remember seeing the Cannondale promo cutaway frames that were displayed in bike shops during the mid to late 90s? My local Cannondale dealer had one on display for a few years. I just picked one up and figured I'd share the pics. I only have part of the serial, but the "1A" is a 1997 if I'm not mistaken. This sample is a drive side half, but I've also seen samples that were the non drive side. I'm not sure how many years they did this. Any more info would be appreciated. For now it makes a cool addition to my bike shelf display in my house.

Nice find. I have seen one or two on eBay, but it's been a while and I don't recall what year they might have been.

Interesting that the chainstay bridge appears to be solid. I would have expected a tube.
