Guessing it might be 18". Check the last two digits of the frame code, just in front of the left chain stay on the underside of the BB shell. Is it black with gold fleck in the top coat? I think it might be 1995 based on the model decal style. All the mountain bikes in the 1994 catalog have the big thick M in the model decal. I assume it's a 3.8 Series frame. Does it say 3.8 anywhere? I'd buy this straight away if you were close by.

Digits on the bottom of the chainstay are "B1-0302". The bottom of the BB shell ends with "18". Year and month code is "FE". Yes, it is a light gold fleck over black. I'll check for the 3.8 Series decals when I get home. If you're interested in just the frame/fork I'd be willing to strip it down and ship it. It has a few knicks and dings-far from perfect.

Just trying to thin out the collection a bit. Have this plus a Prophet 2 up for sale. Will be posting a 1st gen Raven soon and maybe a few frames.

I also have an SM500 frame-is the decal on the chainstay what you are referring to?

The paint on the M300 is what I am looking for to replicate my first Cannondale, which was stolen in Champaign IL in 1995. It was a 20" frame and if I was making the new purchase again (circa 1990) I'd want a 22". I can ride an 18" frame but the saddle to bar differential is pretty substantial.

The SM500 is a beauty. Is it also 18"? Does the chainstay decal read 3.0 Aluminum or 3.8?

Gotcha. Let me know if you're interested in the M300 at all. I was tossing around the idea of putting all it's parts on the SM500 frame. The SM500 is a 20" according to the serial. The decal says 3.0 Aluminum.

I'd probably be more interested in the SM500 just because of the size. I'm pretty sure it's a 1991. Frame and fork would be the same as my stolen SM800, only the paint is different.

Yeah, sold within my town. Sad to see it go, but have too many that just sit and don't get used.
