Spent a bit more time thinking through this one over the weekend. I have a plan that will make the purist cry but it works for me. The following parts list will give you an idea...

Already on hand:
- Shmano M739 shifter/brake levers
- Shimano M950 XTR Vbrakes (already in my possession)
- 8 Speed freewheel (already in my possession)
- Shifter/brake cables
- New Albion crank ring replacement

On the hunt:
- Shimano M735/737/739 front and rear derailleurs
- Suntour cassette removal tool

I'll be removing the black Suntour rings from the New Albion crank. The will reinstalled on the Suntour arms and stored with the removed parts for now. I also have a black New Albion crank and I am contemplating swapping the black rings from it to the silver New Albion crank arms to match the original Suntour crank. Then again I can go silver or black if desire.

In light of my employment situation and lack of Suntour love, I am also considering selling the entire Suntour group removed from the bike and not worrying about being able to return to original. I had M737 on another bike (I regret selling) and it is great stuff. With the M737/739 it would look what the call in the auto world a day 2 restoration - parts upgrade to the next best thing shortly after being sold.

The Suntour parts list:
- brake levers/cables/Ritchy logic canti brakes
- X-Press 7 Speed Trigger Shifters/cables
- Suntour Crank/rings
- XC Comp front and rear derailleurs
