1989 SM600 cable guide screw

in the process of a resto-mod on of a 1989 SM600 the screw that fastens the bottom bracket cable guide was corroded and discarded or lost. Any clue as to what the specs on that screw would be? Metric or English? I have a screw that I installed while I repainted the bike but haven’t put my thread gauge to it, and not certain it should have been in there anyway. Will post pics on completion, be advised the paint job sucks, not a shortcoming of the paint but the user.

Pretty sure it's an 8-32 with a .25" thread length. Original ones had a Philips head but a button head hex drive will work.

I sincerely appreciate the insight I’m sure I’ll have to find something longer and cut it down and tapper the end
