Hey everybody I was wondering if y'all could help me put a value on this 1989 Cannondale tour bike. Just got the original front wheel the back wheel I had replaced 25-in frame.

To be honest, the heart of any bicycle is it's frame. The rest is just parts. Since your bicycle's paint is in such poor shape, that would make many people look elsewhere, for something nicer, if they are looking for a vintage Cannondale.

Shipping bicycles is also a problem, due to cost, so prices are subjective on what the market is like in your area, since if you are looking to sell the bicycle it will most likely be sold to someone who will buy it in person. I would look on your local Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace and see what similar age bicycles are selling for. You can always price it on the high side, then lower the price if there are no takers.

A lot depends on your market. Bikes that sell quickly for $300 in Chicago or Portland might not have any takers at $75 in Bottineau.
Thanks for honest feedback. I'm not looking to sell it I think it's a pretty cool bike. I was given the frame and front wheel just had to buy a back back wheel and cassette I was just curious as to it's worth .
appreciate your time

I almost asked if you were looking to keep the bike. It is a great piece of Cannondale history from the early years. In my opinion, which might not be worth a whole lot, I would say a fair value is around $150.
There is another member on this site that took a bicycle that didn't look much different from yours and did a fantastic job at repainting it and putting it back together. I'd love to see the same happen to your machine if you are so inclined.
The member's site name is "Chilehed", and the thread is titled "Hello from Michigan!"
Good luck and keep us in the loop on your bicycle.

If you do repaint the frame, check eBay for decals, or ask for input from people on this site.

We have three 1989 ST400s (19”, 21”, and 23”) at our house, great riding bikes. All of the 89s that I have seen have indented chainstays that add clearance for larger tires which is nice, especially for larger riders. The indentions started to appear sometime (~November 87 IIRC) during the 88 model production run.
My biggest gripe about the 89 ST400 concerns the brakes. The calipers are flimsy, fiddly and decidedly inferior to the other ST years and trim levels. The brake levers were not much better than the calipers. Fortunately, this is an easy and relatively cheap fix if you find that they are not to your liking. My 23” is now using Shimano 600 (ST600 spec) and the 19” has Tektro brakes/levers while the 21” still has original brakes.
In summary, you have an excellent bike that you can ride and enjoy for many years. I definitely would service the hubs before putting too many miles on though.
