This ST-500 Is all original: original tires and even part of the black leather handlebar wrap.
It's a wonderful bike! Originally purchased from Freewheel Cycles here in Austin, I found it a couple of years ago at the Goodwill for $65. It was covered in a plaster-like material, a rusted chain and in need of replacement parts.

Bought this as bare frame and fork in the middle of 2010 as a project to work on with the kids. I believe I am the third owner. The person I bought it from said it was originally purchased as a frame + fork and built with a Campagnolo gruppo. Second owner bought it for the components and sold the frame + fork.

I'm not sure what year or paint scheme this has. I can't find it in any of the catalogs. The engraving on the bottom bracket indicate a 1997 and the guy I bought it from said he recalls it was sold as an SR900 frameset to him and that Cannondale often sold framesets without the decals identifying the model number. I bought this 1991 SR600 when my son was born. Now he is in college! I changed some parts like the wheelset and the crank to dura ace. The fork is also new. The original bike is the one below.
52cm R900 2.8, built in March, 1996. 17.4 lbs. Mix of dura-ace & ultegra, with Rolf vector pro wheels in gold, with matching King headset.

1992 Cannondale 3.0 Aluminum R600 with original Shimano 105 components. Minor upgrades include: Nitto Pearl stem, Selle Italia Signo saddle, Campagnolo strap, Specialized Elite Armadillo tires, and Fizik handlebar wrap. All components, frame, wheels and decals are all original. Beautiful Cannondale that still turns heads. No major upgrades needed... why change something that is already a piece of art!!!
