    1991 SM1000 Project

This blue frame ialso has the 1.25” steer tube and I used the Nitto piece. Now I need a winning lottery fund that build.

I have the XTR 950 vbrakes so I will use them. Theres's also a XT M750 Rapid Rise RD on the wall but the 737/739 has the desired look. Fortunately I already have Shimano cables that I can use for it. This might not cost too much but is a low priority.

    1991 SM1000 Project

Been thinking about the last ride and the reach feels too long to feel comfortable. According to the size charts I'd be one size smaller for shorter reach but since standover works and overall condition is amazing I'll make the work and store the original parts. Started the quill stem...

    fresh find: Trail 5

I have had several of the Sun Rhyno Lite wheelsets and they are solid. Sun Ringle 26" disc With a bike that nice, I think I would go with Velocity Cliffhanger Hoops on Deore hub Rear and go with a matching front

    1988 SM500

What's the plan? My 11 year old daughter does like the color and it might be fun to let her build it. @IdahoBrett might also need a small frame for a build... As of now I'll start by cleaning up the frame and see what I find. The rear u brake will be a learning opportunity for me.

    1988 SM500

I have noticed this one show up on Marketplace several times over the past year. It showed up again with a much lower price so a deal was struck. The same Cannondale hunter in NE Ohio that picked up the SM1000 grabbed this one today. Actually, his wife works in the same town so I owe her for...

    1991 SM1000 Project

Adjusted the saddle and took the SM1000 to the Trek store to grab a chain for another project. The guys there love any bike and the SM1000 was no exception. It was called "simple and clean" which is the look I was going for. The silver looks amazing out in the light of day. Eventually, I will...

Wanted Pair of SM/16” Mtn bikes

This frame work? I also have a red shred frame and a rough M400 frame too. I wanted to PC the M400 for my daughter in her color of choice but you know how life is...

    1991 SM1000 Project

I am hoping the lube and use will improve the shifting and thus my contentment with most of the bike as delivered. The bike is safely hanging in the sauna garage and will remain there until the midwest air fryer heat dome shifts east tomorrow. The thermometer on my Chrysler TnC said 99 degrees...

    M700 changes

Looks great! The red/black with a few silver accents bring it all together. I think the GRX600 crank is a better choice because of the 46/30 than GRX800 with the 48/31.

    1991 SM1000 Project

After wrenching on the Jamis Renegade build the SM1000 made it back on the stand. I had been suspicious about RD hanger alignment during my last dance with the Suntour XC devil and decided to look closer at the entire drive side mount. I removed the wheel, RD, RD hanger, and looked closely at...

    1991 SM1000 Project

This is not forgotten nor have I disappeared. I've somewhat unexpectedly been on the job hunt after a RIF. I've been using my new found free time I have to clean up and repair bikes that can be sold. Meanwhile, the SM1000 is waiting patiently off to the side for me to return to the project.

    M700 changes

R7000/GRX810 2x11 is my favorite, especially when paired with a 46/30 crank. I think a 48/32 crank is a better option the roadie 50/36 for most of my riding. I do have spare set of RS700s but I am not sure if I want to sell them... Your shifter options are limited the RS700 or Microshift...

    1991 SM1000 Project

The shifters arrived today and are really nice but will need a bit of work to them to shift better - no biggie. They are installed along with the original Suntour brake levers and Ergon grips. I tried my regular approach to setting them up and kept running into skipping gears or not shifting at...
