    R2000 early 90s?

Your information will be under that thick paint on the BB shell. Serial number location makes it a 93 or later.

For Sale 1991 Cannondale ST600 'time capsule' for sale to good home ' @$400 obo, Victoria BC area

Definitely a 21" but the number is hard to read. Do you have any better pictures?

    SM800 restoration project

You are close, the first number indicates the dropout spacing (135mm) then 20” frame size made 07/91 July 1991 then last 4 is the frame number. IIRC the recall dates were August of 1991 through August of 1992.

Try looking on the left seat stay.

    SM800 restoration project

Probably a 22” if you measure a 20” seat tube. Can you post the serial number? I think your bike predates the fork recall window.

    SM800 restoration project

It isn’t unusual to see a 91/92 model without the Pepperoni as this was the time when Cannondale switched to the aluminum steerer that was eventually recalled. In the US, dealers offered a replacement Pepperoni or a Rock Shox Quadra 10. It could be that other countries offered a different fork...

    1990 SH600 - What is it worth?

Yes, this is definitely a “version 2” serial number. The latest of the serial numbers with the month/day/year format that I have seen is August 15th of 1989. That appears to be when the change from 1989 to 1990 production began. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a later 1989 production date, this...

    1990 SH600 - What is it worth?

Do you have the serial number handy? I would be curious as to what the dropout spacing is.

    1996 R600

The size will not be blocked by the cable guide, it is in the lower right corner and will be either a number or a two letter code-LG, MD, SM etc.

Actually, the frame size is part of the serial number.

    L.L. Bean?

He didn’t seem to know, or care, about the bike. He just took my $25 and I left.

    L.L. Bean?

Yeah, I think that is another little oddity. I believe they used a triple crank with only two chainrings, similar to the ST400 of that era.

    L.L. Bean?

Yeah, it isn’t too bad. I got it from a college student so it has some rust from sitting out. Not sure if he ever rode it.

    L.L. Bean?

This is a terrible photo, I have been working on this bike bit by bit and it has been a slow journey. The fork crown is very narrow and will only accommodate ~ 1.5 width tires which is the main difference between this bike and an SM400. I have replaced the derailleur with the original Alpha...

    Max tire size for ST-500

Serial number, size, model and color should cover it. These early frames are the most difficult to find information on. I am going to start a new thread, I have already derailed this one enough.

    L.L. Bean?

I know I am digging up an old thread but I am curious about this bike. I have an 87 LLBean Pathfinder which from what I can tell is nearly identical to the SM400. Interestingly, I have an 87 SM400 made on the same day as my Pathfinder and with the exception of the fork and the paint, they are...

    Max tire size for ST-500

Great question. There are a few reasons and I will probably expand the scope to include those at some point. When I first started compiling these, I was only interested in the 1986-1993 versions because this is my favorite era of Cannondale bikes and these are the numbers that make sense as...

    Max tire size for ST-500

Your bike appears to be a 1985 model, post a pic of the serial number and I can tell you. Anyway, the answer to your question is not an easy one. Early ST frames did not have the dimples on the inside of the chainstays so the condition of your rear wheel and variances in brand/model will be...

    Full Campy

It is an 84, you can tell from the bottle cage bosses under the down tube. Only time I have ever seen 3 sets of bosses on a race bike is the 84 SR Cannondale.
