    Recovered - Stolen '96 R900

After looking at the 1993 catalog, it appears that there were threaded Sub One forks. The 2.8 frame page (pg 27) says that it is all aluminum and 1.25". 1.25" headset doesn't seem likely though they were used on some Cannondale MTBs at the time. It could be 1.125" though. Can you measure the...

    Recovered - Stolen '96 R900

My guess is that's either a 1992 or 1993 model frame. Our serial number section says that the last year for serial numbers on the stays was 1992. Not sure if that means 1992 production date or 1992 model year. If production date, it could be a 1993 model made in 1992. 1992 road bikes in the...

    Cad2 F500

I've only had one of my Headshok forks apart but that's the way I remember them, in plastic cages. I wonder if there isn't a universal joint that has the right needles. I have a box of different sized ones in the shop if you end up taking it apart. Did you ask about them at Mendon Cyclesmith?

Road seatpost and front mech clamps

Both 2.8 frames have the original seat collar, but neither is pristine. One was evidently worn (filed?) down on the upper back side. The other has a bit of damage to the sharp edge at the front top, guessing shop wear or shipping damage. Pictures were taken with flash which highlighted every...

Road seatpost and front mech clamps

I didn't check both sides of my R1000 clamp, but that one's not up for grabs anyway. Will try to check the other two frames later tonight. Do you think that the clamp was a Cannondale part? It appears that the 7403 was only made with a 28.6 clamp, which seems odd as 31.8 could be shimmed to...

Wtb coda magic road BB bearing carriers

I thought it might be well under 20 lbs. I wouldn't hesitate to use the DA pedals, especially if you have them on other bikes. I have Look Delta pedals on most of my road bikes, mainly be cause they are easy to find and cheap. One drawback is certainly the weight. Some of the lower end ones...

Wtb coda magic road BB bearing carriers

What are the wheels? Have you weighed it? Did you find an early black AC post somewhere? I need one for my Black Lightning.

Road seatpost and front mech clamps

I believe that seat collar was used for a number of years on 2.8 and some MTB frames starting in 1992. There's a chance I have one on a couple of different bikes. I don't mind using a replacement as the bikes aren't stock anyway. I can't see the derailleur mount clearly. My 1992 R1000 has a...

Can anyone tell me about this bike?

Looks like an early touring frame. I don't know of any that came with a TA crank, brake levers and rear derailleur are recent replacements. Check the serial number on the bottom bracket shell below the crank and see if it begins with AA, BB, or CC.

Wtb coda magic road BB bearing carriers

That R900 is a beauty. I never would have guessed that there was a shim in the Shimano bearings, but that's great to know in case I trip over a Coda road crank somewhere.

Wtb coda magic road BB bearing carriers

It looks like the only production road bike to use the Coda bottom bracket may have been the 1995 SR2000. The road version was designated 900R. There is a picture in the 1998 catalog of Ivan Gotti riding with a Coda crank in the 1997 Giro, but the 1998 Team Replica R4000 came with a DA crank...

Wtb coda magic road BB bearing carriers

Here is a pair that the seller says are for road cranks: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Cannondale-Magic-Motorcycle-Bottom-Bracket-Cup-CODA-Left-Or-Right/163762446779?hash=item262100a1bb:g:8wwAAOSwBENbpYIY

Wtb coda magic road BB bearing carriers

This pair is listed for 73 mm shells. They would be narrower than 68 mm MTB shells, but perhaps there are three widths. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Magic-Motorcycle-CODA-Cannondale-Bottom-Bracket-Cups-73mm-Shell-Vintage-MTB/254424690039?hash=item3b3ce4ad77:g:pwgAAOSwljFd0ZHP

    1988 Black Lightning Resto

I might go the opposite direction and replace the rings now with black FSAs or whatever you can find for a good price. I may have a new outer ring in the spares box, but perhaps not the inner.

    Cad2 F500

Bikewagon had a lot of Headshok parts on ebay but perhaps just the races and not the bearings. I wonder if you couldn't find the same needles in a round needle bearing. Might tax the patience of the counter guy at the bearing shop to find them... You should check with Mendoncyclesmith and see...

    Help with frame size

I don't have any mountain bikes of this vintage, but the road bikes in that era generally have the size in cm stamped in the BB shell. Guessing that the MD in your frame code is the size. If anyone has anexample of a SM, LG, etc. frame code on a mountain frame it would be nice to see.

    Help with frame size

Believe that's a medium. Measure the wheelbase with someone holding the fork straight. MD wheelbase was 41.1", LG was 42.1".

Potential value of a "transition" CAAD4 frame

I wouldn't put any extra value on it for the transitional aspect, even though it's interesting. More to the point would be condition and parts build. The closest model in the 1999 catalog would be the F900, mostly because of the fork. It was LX/XT with a Coda crank and Hayes cable operated...

1998 CAAD 4 frame.. but not sure about that

It would be interesting to find a disc bike built a month or two later and see if they addressed the guides for disc cables/hoses. They had changed the disc frame guide setup by the time the 2000 catalog was printed, running the hose through 3 guides on the underside of the top tube. What...
