    Cannondale 2.8 Series Road Frame

If you're definitely going to repaint it, you might try sanding through the blue and see if another color shows underneath. Perhaps it was a replacement frame and that's why it doesn't have a model decal. I would start at your local automotive paint dealer and see what they can come up with.

    Cannondale 2.8 Series Road Frame

Looks to be a 1996 frame. Does it have a model number? The only blue 2.8 I see in the 1996 catalog is the R2000 (Matte Panama Blue). R600 and up had the carbon fork in 1996.

    Cannondale 2.8 Series Road Frame

The 2.8 was the top of the line road frame from 1992-1996. I don't think the geometry changed much but there were several different forks used. AL forks were used on the early bikes, but carbon was used on the later upper end models. There are geometry charts in each of the catalogs...

What model is this? What's it worth?

Looks to be lugged steel, so not a Cannondale. There are some steel experts over at the Paceline forum. You might try posting there in General Discussion. https://forums.thepaceline.net/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=3 Are those 27" wheels? The Shimano 600 indexed group is pretty nice...

    Trying to ID CAAD8 bike.

Kind of odd to have those calipers on a build that is pretty high end otherwise. They probably work fine though. Glad to hear that you didn't discover any issues during the clean up. That's when I usually start to notice flaws that I didn't see initially.

    Trying to ID CAAD8 bike.

Sounds like you did fine to me. I don't keep up on S10 parts pricing but I'd guess you could get at least $200 for the DA levers. I wouldn't think there's much that you would want to change. Hope you like it but I don't think you have to worry about losing money if you don't. Is that...

    Trying to ID CAAD8 bike.

I picked up my Klein as a frameset (w BB) at the swap meet in Madison WI 15 or 20 years ago. What you said is pretty much what I had guessed without ever having worked on a pressed in Klein BB. I agree about spreading the mileage. I have bikes that haven't needed much of anything in at least...

    Trying to ID CAAD8 bike.

I wish Kleins were as easy to find as Cannondales. I only have one, a Chehallis made 1996 Aeolis from the Trek owned era. Very nice TT frame, the only issue is the pressed in BB - though there may be more replacement options these days. I've never had it out to compare it more current pressed...

    POLL: to vintage or not.

Interesting frame. Have you ridden it yet? What is the tab on top of the top tube used for?
