Wanted R3000si Crown Race

I have an R3000si fork, but no crown race. These had a proprietary Cannondale race that is nearly impossible to get any information on. I don't even know what it looks like. The most info I've gotten so far is an image of a page that accompanied a crown race kit from a FB group.

If anyone has one, or a lead, please let me know. Thanks!

Do you have the frame and the rest of the headset? The SI frames used 36/45 degree bearings. Since the crown race only contacts the bearing on the bevel, I would think any 1 1/8" crown race with the correct angle would work. FSA, Cane Creek and others made these headsets. Lots of Cannondales came with FSA headsets, some with Campagnolo. This Cane Creek race should work if you have everything else.

I should have included photos of the fork. The odd thing about this is the bevel where the steerer meets the fork crown. It makes most crown races useless.

That's interesting. I have a CAAD6 that I assume has a carbon steerer but I would have to check to be sure. Also interesting to see that it's a Time fork. I thought that all the Time forks predated the SI era.

Again, do you have the frame? If so it would make tracking down the age much easier. I've spent a lot of time looking through old catalogs and haven't located that fork.

The bottom of the IS-3I race does have a chamfer. It appears to be 45 degree and about 2 mm wide.

The fork is from a CAAD 5 R3000si, so 2002ish. I bought it without knowing it required a proprietary crown race. I don't have the frame. To my knowledge, the rest of the headset is standard, integrated 45/45 Campy style with only the crown race being different.

Do you think the chamfer on the IS-3I is to small to work?

I think the fork came from a 2003 R3000. They dropped the SI from the model name that year. I have a 2002 R3000SI. I can pull the fork if seeing the crown race is going to help.

If you look at the 2001 catalog, page 35, the R3000si matches this fork pretty closely. This one is a single color instead of the fade in the catalog, but googling "2001 Cannondale R3000si" yields results with a single color blue fork.

As for the IS-3I, I couldn't say. I did a little googling last night about the IS-3I, but couldn't find posts about anyone using one on an SI fork. But I also didn't do an exhaustive search and I was a bit tired when i was looking. The measurement at the flat part of the steerer, just above the angled portion, is 30mm. Above that shoulder is 29.5mm. The measurement at the base of the angled portion is 32mm. The angled portion seems to be 3mm tall, as does the 30mm diameter section above. I don't know if any of that information is helpful.
