Normally I wouldn’t give a tandem much thought while looking at classifieds. Because they’re usually very highly priced. This one isn’t terrible at $400. And I believe it’s big enough at 22” for the ”stoker”. Very nice shape for a 1995. I like the color. Pretty cool huh?

I’ve never looked for chains and cables for a tandem but I also don’t recall any for sale. This one is probably like a lot of tandems I’ve seen for sale. Low mileage. Would only need tires ‘n tubes and hub service.

That drag brake on the rear wheel is interesting. I don’t recall that component being on a tandem. But I don’t know a lot about tandem’s.

Tandems have always been a curiosity for me. The drag brake is a prime example of the parts on them that are interesting. Not to mention the MT3000 a couple of years later than this one that came equipped with the Moto fork. As if someone is crazy enough to take a tandem down a single track!

That is a drum brake meant to keep the speed in check on desents. Too much friction on your rim brakes can make heat and expand your tubes to the point that the tires can blow off. Not a good thing at speed. My last tandem had a rear disc brake rotor that was the size of a dinner plate!

A great place for tandem specific parts is Tandems Limited; and yes, they used to sell Cannondales.
