M1000 parts?

Hi, I have just added to my collection my Dads M1000. He bought it new in 1993 when I was 9. I wasn’t allowed to touch it, he loved it more than my Mum (now being married I understand that feeling) it was his daily commuter for 10 + years then I was finally trusted with it. I used it for day rides and bike packing trips. Put the sentimental value to one side, this really is one of the best bikes I have ever been on. Unfortunately it has spent the past 10 years buried in my dads garage, neglected. I have just dug it out now I have time to refurb it. My trouble is I cannot find any info on what parts I require. Q - 1) it has a ritchey head set but what size? 2) what bottom bracket?
Thanks for reading, hope you can help.

I couldn't tell from the picture but according to the catalog, the M1000 came with a SunTour XC Comp Microdrive crank that year. It was actually lighter than the XT equipped M2000. SunTour MTB cranks had the same taper as Shimano. I think you would be safe using a Shimano BB with the same spindle length. I have a 1992 Cannondale with an XC Comp crank but would have to pull it to measure the spindle. I believe all 1993 models with the Pepperoni fork used a 1 1/4" headset. They are getting hard to find new but there were a few on eBay last time I checked. I believe the Ritchey used a traditional bearing setup, with loose balls retained in cages. If the races and cups are in good shape you can replace the balls. I believe that bike came with a SunTour cassette freehub. I may be able to part with a NOS cassette if you need one. May also have some loose cogs if you find that a new chain skips on one or two.
