It started at a garage sale.

Hello,

I've always enjoyed Cannondale's unique frame and suspension designs, but I've never owned one until now. Picked this up at a garage sale for lets say a decent price, even for wall art. I have most of a road bike of this vintage laying around in parts so thought I would throw it together as a bar bike.

Kinda expected to find a crack somewhere, but after a decent clean I haven't found any. So I'm moving forward with the build and mostly using used parts and stuff friends had laying around.

I do have a Cannondale shop in my town though, so maybe someone there might talk me out of it. Wife isn't exactly thrilled with the number of bikes I have now. N+1 for life though right? or is it happy wife happy life? Always get those confused.

how it sits now. I have lots of stuff to go on, just not much time yet. That 35mm up front is just to hold it up. I have some Conti Gran Prix's going on it.

Welcome. It's always N+1 for me, but that approach does complicate life. Let me know if you decide to sell it. I have some 32 mm knobby Vittorias on my 1995 SR500. I would guess that the team used the widest available Vittoria slick tubular for races like Paris Roubaix. In the catalog picture I mentioned in the other thread, it appears that Fornaciari is riding on Pave Evo tires with the green/black tread - likely 24 mm. I'm pretty sure I have one good used one and one needing the tube replaced if you want to build a reproduction. Here's my SR500 in the middle of my first ride on it.
