Installing foam bar pads

Actually, maybe this is a nevermind. I forgot to do a bit of research first. Looks like water will help them slide on.

Getting stoker bars for my tandem is taking some experimenting. The issue is that my stoker is the same height as I am, and we're both getting a bit old, so the stoker bars are too low. I decided to try something like this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001502829398.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dbPSrCS

It's working so far, although looks a bit odd. I can't seem to figure out how to get the foam bar pads on. Is anyone aware of a trick to this or do I just need to fight with them?

Thanks!

I usually use a bit of glass cleaner to ease rubber grips onto flat bars. You don't need to soak the bar, just a light mist. Guessing it would help with foam as well.

Thanks for the advice. Water actually doesn't work, but a bit of soapy water did. I'm hoping the soap doesn't come out if we ride in the rain, otherwise my stoker will get to ride and wash her hands at the same time.

It's not a problem with rubber grips but I guess that it might be possible for water to get through the foam. My guess is that there is a solid base film that water won't be able to penetrate.
