I guess that I should have said that if I were ordering a new headset for that bike without measuring, I would order an ISO headset with the thinking that it is the most likely size. Have been wrong before though. My 1993 lugged steel Specialized Allez uses a JIS headset.

I am not sure what you are suggesting. I think that it might be possible to thread a small diameter aluminum tube to accept the screws for down tube cable adjusters. You would have to be careful not to over tighten them as you could distort the down tube. If I can find the time I might give...

Agree with Brian. 16" frame built on November 4th, 1986 (so surely a 1987 model). The 92nd frame built that day. Frame color appears to match the SM600 but should have had pink decals. Wouldn't be the first Cannondale to get decals that don't show in the catalog, but I don't know how to tell...

Is it a screw or a rivet on the chain stay? Either way I think its function was to plug a vent hole during the welding of the frame. I think you need to push the plastic pins through the cable guides with a small punch. It's not something I have done but you can probably rattle the pins out...

Looks like you have it right, 126 spaced 25" T1000 built in June 1991. Too bad it wasn't better taken care of, and it looks like most of the original parts are gone. That said I might be interested in it. All of my Cannondale touring bikes are caliper brake models.

Should make a nice gravel bike. Be sure to smooth out all the gouges on the drive side chain stay to reduce the chance of cracking.
