Hi,

I bought a really nice looking aluminum Cannondale road bike from a lady at work who bought it and a fixed trainer during lockdown. She admitted that she’d only ridden it a few times on the trainer and never rode it outside, but the first owner had. Using this forum I figured out the bike is a 2013 CAADX 105. It rides like a dream even though I’m still finding the best adjustments for the seat.

The bike has road slicks on at the moment, probably fitted for use on the fixed trainer. It also came with the Schwalbe Sammy Slicks that came on the bike from the factory. They‘re feeling a little crispy from age, and they supported the bike’s original cyclocross mission but I doubt I’ll ever use them. Being older now, I don’t ride off-road anymore even on my mountain bikes, so I’m looking forward to using this thing as a light road bike.

Compared to my old mountain bikes, this little thing is just light and handy. I’m really looking forward to riding it when the weather dries out a little more.

Thank you for having a very informative forum.

Welcome to the group. I hope that you get some good Spring riding in on your Cannondale. Oregon has a some extreme differences between wet and dry areas. Post a picture of your bicycle, we'd love to see it.

Thanks for the welcome. This weekend I did some indoor riding on the fixed trainer. I'm getting the seat angle dialed in, but the narrowness of the saddle has me pretty tender. I'll get past that eventually. If not, I'll move over a saddle from my oldest mountain bike. That old saddle has been a comfy fit for 30 years.

Spring weather is definitely a factor here. It's been rainy since I bought the bike. Saturday morning was sunny, but I had to do chores and go shopping with my wife, and by the time we got back the weather had turned. C'est la vie.

I keep forgetting to get a picture, so I'll try to get one before dinner tomorrow or Tuesday. The weather forecast is for nicer weather as the week goes on, with a truly nice weekend coming up.

Thanks again for the warm welcome.
