    1997 F700 - Full Restoration

This is f*****g outstanding! Great work by the way. This is the exact model in the exact size i bought in the late 90's.....and promptly ditched my other (2) bikes. I've told the story on other posts so won't repeat myself, but the F700 was one helluva bike. Fair play with the headshok - i just...

Getting there! I always find the 'self doubt' starts creeping in - when i've spent money that transpires to be a waste of money in search of perfection (or what constitutes perfection to me)..... But it's always worth it - when you ride it for the first time and know that it is exactly what you...

    R800 to Cafe Racer!

I read the first paragraph under the 'Effect' heading..... Made my brain feel funnyo_O Very cool, very amazing.....in a 'I don't understand entirely, but I like it anyway' kind of way:)

I think you're right black lightning 1987. Old Cannondale's can be picked up really cheap. Klein's feel much more 'niche'. Anything like a Fervor, Rascal (or Top Gun) seems to go for $$hundreds (sometimes $$thousands). Probably a factor in that is that there are simply less of them.

I don't know who's selling them as i have no interest in them. They're not a Headshok as such. The ones i've seen are elastomers (there might be a coil in there somewhere) in or around the headtube. They're not calling it 'headshok', but they are implying that having a relatively small amount of...

1x makes me more comfortable i must say. That picture of the double you posted had my nerves jangling..... I'm sure i'm pointing out what you already know.....but you could space the chainring out. I do it a lot to improve chainline. I've found it's the easiest, least risky method of achieving...

    New F600 project

Thanks JohnnyD. I thought they might be decals, but i couldn't shake the thought that Cannondale might just do a paint job like that..... Very good point - mismatching 'groupset' parts is the 8th deadly sin, at least it is on a Cannondale. On other bikes, it is (whilst slightly distasteful)...

I would have to say both (Cannondale & Klein) were incredibly innovative (and we should bear in mind this was the most innovative era of mountain biking so to stand out gives you some idea of how incredible both brands were). For me, Klein edges it in the 'aesthetics' category. Whilst...

    New F600 project

Great stuff with this build - that paint job is so cool. I had never seen it before you posted. I'm curious.....is it all 'paint'.....or are the 'rivets' some kind of decal? Chainring clearance makes me wince a little, but there's only one way to find out (as they say). If it was single speed or...

Nice comment JohnnyD. I'm no engineer and i know very little about such things, but whenever the debate rages regarding carbon, my bottom line is always.....'in a bare knuckle fist fight between aluminium and carbon.....aluminium wins EVERY time'.....:)

    R800 to Cafe Racer!

Oh my goodness! I never knew that.....but good point. With the smooth welds and everything, i always thought Klein's were more like works of art than bikes. I must confess.....having scratched the Cannondale 'itch' with the cafe racer, i am starting to crave satisfying the Klein itch. I wouldn't...

Beautiful animal! I always liked the two-tone/fade (whatever you call that) colours.
