The serial number on my 1990 (i think), black lightning is 66008890012, the decoding of this number does not make sense. need help

Unless it's a very large frame (they made a 66 cm back then), I'm guessing your first digit is a 5. Any chance you transposed an 8 and a 0? 66080890012 or 56080890012 would make more sense. That would translate to the 12th frame made on August 8, 1990. It's conceivable that someone at the factory transposed two digits when setting up the stamping. Pretty sure 1990 was the last year for the Black Lightning.
I'll bet you are right. I forgot about the alternate sequence with the dropout spacing code. The first 6 = 126 spacing. As an aside, 66 was offered stock but only as a frameset.it could also be a 60cm,

or a 66cm. Cannondale made special requests. 66 would be insane though.
might be better to see the SN, and measure the frame.
