1998 M400 - bottom bracket size required

Ok, so i removed the BB from my M400 months ago.
It was 'crunchy' to say the least so i threw it away.
Of course, i forgot to record the size of said BB.
And now i can finally put the bike back together.
Anyone help me out please.
The 68mm is the easy part.
It's just the spindle length i'm not sure on.
Some sites suggest 68 x 110, but first hand experience would be much appreciated.

Year of bike and brand/model of crank will be helpful. Guessing that you will be needing a spindle length in the 118-123 mm range. Assuming square taper.

Bike is 1998 M400 - the BBQ black version - with yellow decals.
Cranks are Shimano XT FC-M739 (5 arm square taper triple).
I would guess at 110.
But therein lies the problem.....

Sheldon Brown says 107-113, depending on frame. Guessing 110 would be right. Is the crank on the bike now? Can you pull the arms and measure the old one?
