Nice JC! ...I saw this on Ebay and would have bought it immediately if it was in my size. Beautiful find and best wishes for the build -- keep us updated on what you do with her.
Cheers and ride safe! -John
These are early 90s, deluxe (i.e. lots of pockets, including easily removable fanny pack) rear set of "Overland" Cannondale panniers, in orange (maybe special order..?), ripstock nylon with plastic internal frame, and metal mounting hardwear.
NOTE: My mobile phone's camera could not quite...
Hi all,
...I like to refer to what I do as "modernizing" a vintage frame, which works especially OK with Cannondales as even their frames from the 80s still look and behave modern (faux fillet brazed, super stiff, relatively friendly regarding ample braze-ons & standards, for the latter if you...
Hi Brian. As you so subtly hinted at, I have now added my vintage jerseys as a showcase item: "A collection of 9 vintage jerseys". Thanks for the push and I hope to expand the collection even more.
It would be really cool if vintagecannondale.com could get permission to re-create these old...
I really like these vintage jerseys, how they fit, perform, and look -- and so I collect them.
The blue one with the horizontal red & yellow stripes is my favourite! I use these jerseys regularly, both on and off the bike. Most of them are actual jerseys with rear pockets, but the solid...
Howdy Mark (aka Black Lightning 1987),
I have always liked the CAADX and have always wanted one, regardless of "Handmade in the USA". My point/opinion is not to say they aren't nice bikes, because they are and continue to be(!), rather it is just that they lose a certain something in my...
Hi all,
I appreciate this community and am happy to introduce myself after being a member here for some time. First off, I am an avid touring- and commuter-cyclist with formative cycling years (+10) spent in the Midwest (Chicago, USA), but originally from the Northeast (Maine, USA). Today, and...
Hey BL, looking for anything with braze-ons for fenders and at least a rear-rack. Size is the tricky part (I have always had issues getting c'dales in small-medium): 51-54 for road geo and 16-18 for MTB..? The search continues for a rainy-day beater! Ride safe, -John
Last of the "Handmade in the USA" Cannondales, maybe that qualifies it as "vintage"..? But really nothing too special: purchased used in Norway from a junior triathlon rider (52cm) and have used it for a couple of centuries and training. I have meant to update the groupset, cockpit...
(continued) Thanks for tips! I am watching craigslist daily, but also thinking of walking into a used bike shop..? Really just looking for a beater: something I can put fenders & a rack on to get around town/get groceries (ideally a late 80s/early 90s C'dale, but I'm not picky ;-). We see. B-)
Hey PGT4, yeah been here for 4 weeks & will soon (tomorrow) move into short-term (5 month) apartment in Kitslano (the wife is doing research via UBC). Fraser Valley looks nice,-wish I had my/a touring bike here to do some long-weekend trips in every direction... Cheers!
Hey SpecialMonkey, I agree with BL1987 above about the wheelset -- its a bit expensive of a swap but it adds a lot of flexibility. For example, on my '87 ST400 I have a nice set of 700cc wheels, run conti 4season 28s (have had 32s before), and have long reach brakes. But to your specific...
Frame purchased on ebay in 2011, many parts purchased around same time, never have had time to build it as I was caught in a international move in 2012, and haven't stopped moving since! Hope to work on this bike in 2020, but your thoughts are welcome!
Intended build for a comfy cruiser /...
Update 2019: This is the same frame as my other M900 posted but it has been updated as a rigid MTB. Changed out cranks (not Deore XT) and moved to a non-traditional riser bar with Deore rapid fire shifters.
Frame / Size / Year:
Cannondale M900 / M / 1995
Handlebars / Stem:
Riser bar with...
This bike has been well ridden throughout midwest of USA, through several US national parks, moved across the ocean to be a trainer/daily-commuter in Bergen, Norway. Now used as a tourer around Lofoten and hopefully more around Scandanavia & Europe generally.
NOTE: The frame is a bit too big...
