86 SR500 finally finished (except for tape)

I just finished re-assembling the SR500 and adjusting the derailleurs. Now for the test ride in 90 degree and muggy weather. The handlebars have not been re-taped yet, but I can't wait to fall off this good looking thing. I'm going for a short ride! LOL

86 SR500 Project is Moving into the Strip and Repaint Stage

Finally, after two weeks of fighting galvanic corrosion and plain old rust, I've got the frame of the R500 ready to strip and repaint. Badly Stuck Bottom Bracket Cup

I've started the repairs to the 86 SR500 and have already run into issues. First, the pedals have grown to the crank arms, and then the bearing preload cup is badly galded to the aluminum to the point where the pin wrench sheared off trying to budge it. I've started grinding a relief slot in the...

Old Guy, but New to Cannondale!

I haven't ridden since 1977, and started shopping bikes so I could ride with my wife. I found a beautiful 1972 Schwinn Sport Tourer for cheap, and used it for trading stock on a 1986 Cannondale R500 Racer (I think since all of the hardware is correct, but the paint isn't). I intend to restore...
